Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Tile Mason to join our construction team. The Tile Mason will be responsible for laying tiles on floors, walls, ceilings, and other surfaces to complete the finishing work of construction projects. The ideal candidate should be capable of working with different types of tiles (ceramic, porcelain, marble, granite, vitrified, etc.) and ensuring a smooth, even, and professional finish.
This role is crucial to achieving the final aesthetic and functional quality of construction work, particularly in bathrooms, kitchens, lobbies, swimming pools, and exterior cladding.
Key Responsibilities:
Surface Preparation:
Clean and level the surface to be tiled, including removing old materials and applying screed, plaster, or adhesives.
Tile Installation:
Measure and cut tiles using hand tools or tile-cutting machines. Lay tiles in straight lines or patterns, ensuring perfect alignment and spacing using spacers.
Material Handling:
Mix and apply tile adhesive (mortar or cement) properly, ensuring long-lasting bonding and avoiding air gaps or loose tiles.
Grouting and Finishing:
Fill joints between tiles with grout and clean the surface to remove excess material. Apply sealants if required.
Repairs and Adjustments:
Repair broken or cracked tiles, re-grout areas as needed, and fix tile alignment or surface defects.
Coordination:
Work with plumbers, electricians, and other tradesmen to schedule tile work in line with the overall construction workflow.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
Basic education or ITI in masonry, tile work, or civil construction preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Tile Mason in residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in using tile cutters, trowels, levels, and measuring tapes.
Ability to interpret drawings and tile layout plans.
Skilled in working with various types of tiles and adhesives.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work long hours while bending, kneeling, or lifting heavy materials.
Must be physically fit and safety conscious.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed on construction sites, both indoors and outdoors.
Must wear personal protective equipment (helmet, gloves, boots, etc.).
May involve overtime, night shifts, or weekend work based on project schedules.
